Out of Barcelona - Into Cadaques

Here's the first of many updated blogs to come from my holiday adventures with Crystal. Friday, December 19th, Crystal arrived here in Barcelona. Needless to say I was beyond excited to have her here. What amped up the elation a few more notches was finding out that I wasn't going to have to work the following week as I initially anticipated; that in itself was a great Christmas present.

Because we were going to have extra days to explore I figured we should get a head start on our adventures. To add to the excitement because of all my recent adoration of photography and because I'm loved a great deal I got an awesome Nikon camera so we could take really spectacular photos. So enjoy some of these pictures we took on our day excursion to Cadaqués...

The weather was pretty amazing that day. Cadaqués is a town 3 hours north of Barcelona. We took a bus there for the day to explore the Cap de Creus (the Cape Cross) and check out the wacko, yet talented artist, Salvador Dalí's home.
Here's Crys posing for me and enjoying the weather...

Here's Crystal enjoying her glass of sangria on a warm winter's day on the Costa Brava
Here I am trying to be artistic. There is this weird tree that we keep seeing everywhere that Crys and I are both fascinated with...it looks like a pruned weird bonsai. If you know anything about it, fill me in...

I had to include this picture because Crys loved the little boy in it ...

We could've gotten ourselves killed or simply from lack of exercise, died on the windy road up to Cap de Creus look out area/ Dalí's house but once we walked up and realized this windy road was not pedestrian friendly we walked back down and like smart women...asked for directions to Dalí's house.
The Statue of Liberty is not just in New York..we found a mini version in Cadaqués as well...

As we hiked around looking for Dali's house we stumbled upon a really pretty house. I thought it was Dalí's house but found out later it was a cemetery...

This is the view from the cape...

We eventually made our way to Dalí's crazy house...what's the first thing we see in the entrance...a stuffed bear given to Dalí by some rich weird European...go figure...
Gotta love David...

Dalí had a thing for these yellow flowers and the name of them escapes me now but they are everlasting flowers or something of that nature which is why he placed them all around his house.

The egg is a sign of fertility + is an object you find quite often in his work. This egg is on top of his house and you can see it from far away. That's what finally helped us find the house.

The view from the rooftop area of the house

Here's some more wacko art at Dali's house...

This boat with a tree growing inside of it sits infront of Dali's house.

One of the many pictures I took of the sun setting on our lovely day in Cadaques on our windy and slightly violent bus ride back to Barcelona...
