GALICIA

This is Galicia. The West Coast of Spain that sits right above Portugal. Galicia is known for being REALLY green. For having great Gastronomy...(which my gut can attest to) and well...they also happen to have a good friend of mine and her family living there. I went to Galicia for a weekend to visit my friend Sarah who I hadn't seen for 6 years and meet her two awesome kids and her husband-to-be.

Here's how it went...

I love the cute little old guys just sitting in the park. This is in the city of Santiago. Sarah picked me up from the airport in Santiago (about 1.5 hrs. from her town) and we went around for the afternoon for the sights and for pinchos aka tapas.

Catedral de Santiago de Compostela
People have done a pilgrimage to Santiago that lasts for months...they are to end up here. Lucky for us, we ended up here without all the walking.

The town that Sarah lives in is called Ourense, so even though we hadn't made it to Ourense yet, I thought this bar was appropriate.

Reunited and it feels so good.

The other entrance to the cathedral

You might not be able to see the indentation but there are grooves where you are supposed to put your fingers when you arrive at the cathedral and it supposedly washes all your sins away...well of course they day we go there...it was being repaired or something so Sarah and I continue on our paths as sinners. :( I'll work on getting there another time when it's open and hopefully erase the sins.

I liked this eye on the dome of the church. Sarah tells me there is a huge thing that swings around the cathedral but of course that wasn't there that day either so I had to just enjoy the eye.

We made it to Ourense and I finally got to meet the kiddies. Let me tell you they are more adorable than they appear in these photos. We went out for pinchos with the whole family and of course had to go get ice cream afterwards. What would pinchos be without dessert afterwards?¿ exactly!

Saturday I was allowed to pick what I wanted to do. I didn't know either of the two things but I opted for going to the coast we went to Pontevedra...or at least in that direction and headed to an area called Cangas.

Naia is too cool for the playground.
Naia and Omar smiling for the camera
This was some thing that looked cool to take a picture on but unfortunately as we got closer, we realized it had bottles in it and other random things so ... just opted for a pic without climbing on it.

Here's the cutiepatootie Omar.

I have a love for graffiti no matter where I am...

We stopped to have lunch and honestly I felt like I never stopped eating all weekend. It was ridiculous how much I ate that weekend. This was a platter that we got of seafood...it was massive and delicious.

After a day at the beach, and a solid nap...Sarah and I were ready to relive our youth...and go out and explore the nightlife of Ourense. It's a really small town but really cute. There are a million bars lining the small streets and full of lively people who are not ready to really party until 230am. With that being said...we didn't get home until 630ish a.m. Good times, good food, and great company!
