Halloween a la Barcelona

Friday was Halloween in the U.S. and it has become kind of a big deal here in Barcelona as well since Barcelona is such an international city. My co-worker LOVES Halloween and was determined that the entire office would love it too. Because it's her favorite holiday we decorated the office with spider webs, Frankenstein heads...lots of random stuff. I always have a hard time figuring out what to be for halloween but knew I was going to HAVE to dress up for the office on Friday and for the party in my fav Barcelona bar (only one I think I've gone to actually), Can-Can. One of my best friends from Germantown, Moises came to visit for the week, and got in on Thursday. He was supposed to get me a costume in the States, since I figured there wouldn't be anywhere here to get a costume but...mission was aborted. Because I didn't have a costume for Friday (Trick or Treat time at work) my co-worker gave me her cowgirl 'get up' and I went to the bar downstairs and got a toothpick and worked it out!

(Cowgirl by day)
(Pirate by night)

After work Moises and I were on a mission to find ourselves some good costumes for the party. Way too many stores, too much rain, and too many nasty people that wouldn't let us touch their precious costumes later...Here's what we came up with!
Arrr Matey...or something like that! And Moises as a monk! Who would've ever thought they'd see the day!

Because Linda is creative and does things outside the box always...she decided to be a Victorian wind-up doll. What does that look like you ask???? It looks like this...

I promise I'm not usually this violent + our Victorian wind up doll is also not always as innocent

Good + scary right???

(Me, Linda and Noel (our favorite Irishman aka the gay sailor + owner of Can-Can)

This guy is a friend of Noel's who wins my best costume contest. He carved a pumpkin and actually rode around on his bike with it...quite impressive.
