Part I: "Spanish" and Irby do Pais Vasco

El Prat
This is a picture of us before boarding a plane at 7am. I was less than happy because it was raining, I was eating a disgusting cough drop, and I didn't sleep because the night before was the halloween party. (Hence the make-up and big hair at 6am)
Okay so...here is a view out of the window of the plane as we arrived Saturday morning in Bilbao which is located in the Basque Region of Spain.

We went directly from the airport to the bus station and took a bus to the city of San Sebastian. The hostel we stayed in was amazing, minus the fact that the electricity went out (just in our room) twice in one day. Our hostess was tia Amalia! Okay so, she wasn't anybody's tia (aunt, for you non-Spanish speakers) but she was so cute and made us feel so at home...and she was Colombian which made her even cooler. She gave us a map and told us how to see the whole city in 2 hours...and we almost managed it.

Check it out...

San Sebastian is a city that is on the water and is known for its great seafood and beaches.

This is an area where the water comes up on the rocks and even on the docks, and of course almost took me out. I've got to learn to be a bit more vigilant when I'm walking next to such rocks and water.

The city by day...

Half posing + enjoying the view, and the other half...my profile taking photography skillz

This was our hostel landmark. We walked around for a good hour or more so that we could see the sea side, and the Concha beach which is shaped like a shell (concha). When we got all the way into the Casco Viejo (Old Town) I was dreading the walk back until Moises pointed out that this landmark seemed REALLY familiar and that it looked like the basilica right near our hostel...we walked for hours when we could've gone around the corner to get to where we ended up...knowledge is power.

Later in the evening I was determined to take lots of pictures and walk around (after a nap of course in our pitch black room) We went back to the old part of town and I made Moises do one of my favorite things...ride a carousel!!! No, I am not 7 but I love carousels!

The beautiful carousel...

And ME on the horsey!!!!!

After torturing Moises on the carousel + wanting to barf because I can't even handle the carousel we walked around the old city and bumped into a correfoc which is an event where people are dressed up like devils and they have fireworks and entertain with music etc.
Kids were being chased by devils in diapers, there were fireworks everywhere ... amazing!

More correfoc

San Sebastian by night...

I thought these lights were all really beautiful that lined the old city...

I couldn't get any good, really clear pictures of the night's skyline but you get the idea...

And the next morning...in the pouring rain, we were off to Bilbao!
Please stay tuned...
