S.A.T.C. goes down in history as one of my favorite shows but I wasn't as impressed with the film. Please don't think I'm saying that I hated it but, after having to wait a few years...I expected more than what I got in previews to show up on the big screen. Because Carrie's happy ending still makes me smile, their clothes and shoes are still fabulous and it was better to have them for a few hours than not at all...I give it a B.
Last Friday evening I was invited to the premiere of Kicking It.
I must admit that I am not a big soccer fan BUT once I sat down, got comfy, and people stopped chatting LOUDLY, I was able to get into the film and thoroughly enjoyed it. There were definitely some tears shed, and a profound statement made. I was so moved by those that were interviewed -- their stories were of hardships, loss, sadness, but also of hope and faith. They spoke to and for millions of people who are almost never given a voice and they made an impact. Kicking It without a doubt gets an A.I was so moved by the Independent film scene Friday night that Crystal and I went to a movie at the same theater on Saturday afternoon after we went to watch the Homeless World Cup tryouts in the rain. Unfortunately the movie I selected was...Finding Amanda. The best part of that movie experience was the lovely minty goodness I found in these mint biscuits Crystal put me on to. The movie for me, was a big fat flop. It could have been more entertaining if the acting wasn't sooooo 'average'. I'm going to give Finding Amanda a C-.
Last but not least this week is WANTED which gets a rock solid B+ Although my friends thought that the plot was a bit cheesy, I thought that it was packed with entertainment, literally made me jump out of my seat, and is a movie where Morgan Freeman gets to be the bad guy. He actually says 'muthafucka' in the film which you don't hear often. I am sad to say though that a black man STILL can't survive in an action/thriller movie...oops did I give something away??? NO! Because like I said, the black guy NEVER lives so no one would have anticipated anything different. Check out the
