World Cup Brothel?
I am amazed more and more everyday at the many ways individuals, corporations and even entire nations scheme for financial gain even at the risk of others. Apparently someone in South Africa got the hair brained thought in their head that a great way to make money during World Cup, which is set to take place in South Africa 2010 is, by legalizing prostitution specifically for World Cup's international visitors. Is it a smart economic booster or is it just speeding up the count down to the ticking AIDS time bomb in South Africa and other parts of the world? In my mind, AIDS and soccer shouldn't mix + neither should prostitution.
If you are to bring attention to South Africa why would you support legislation that would defile and degrade the women of your country? When all eyes are on your nation and people all over the world get to learn about who you are as a nation, culture, and people, why would legalization of prostitution even be a thought? Apparently Germany used prostitution, brothels, and private escorts as a maneuver to attract tourists during the World Cup Germany but, what I don't think those who support this idea understand is that Germany and South Africa have a different history and South Africa will not being doing itself any justice by proposing sexual activity with local women as a pastime or 'thing to do' while in South Africa.

Prostitution in Germany is a legal practice and the workers actually have a union. All workers are tested on a weekly/monthly basis. Germany as well as some other countries, realize the Sex industry has been around for AGES! and by regulating it and taxing it, is yet another way to make money.
Not sure about South Africa, but AIDS, brothels DO NOT MIX!!
Cheap, cheap, way for people to make extra money.
